doggone dawkins

I think it was Chesterton who said that “I like a dog, so long you don’t spell him backwards” (see comments below). Which is just what Roald Dahl’s poor (dyslexic) Vicar of Nibbleswicke did:

  4. The quote is from the opening lines of Chesterton’s “The Oracle of the Dog”, a fabulous Father Brown story. It goes like this: “‘Yes,’ said Father Brown, ‘I always like a dog, so long as he isn’t spelt backwards.'”
